Minutes:  Motion to accept:   Kerry Pickett, Clarabel Kurzen 2nd   – Approved

Treasurer’s Report:  Clarabel Kurzen,  Dan Hostetler 2nd – Motion approved

 

Business:

-                      Business After Hours  -  Next Meeting  Oct. 15th – 7:45AM  at Pickett’s offices

-                      Laurie Rheinbolt – Orrville Chamber  “Young Professionals”  Press Release

-                      Website – Dan Hostetler – moving to Image Café Web Builder with Network Solutions

 

Intro of Greg Lubelski – Director of Wayne County Library

-                      Ruth Crowley – promoting the levy (Operating levy renewal)  - if levy doesn’t past – lose 1/3rd fund

-                      Sharing financial support – 2/3rd  from State, 1/3rd from levies

-                      Works hard to keep up with technology  (Website – In-depth question and answer response)

-                      Doylestown project – separately funded

-                      Circulation is up -  usage is increasing – every facility has increased continuously over past 5 years

-                      Dalton Branch is too small – bought property next door for expansion in the future

-                      Teresa Jaeger – had volunteer approach her about doing story time…  about 15 children

                          Reading to two units of county Pre-School classes, Reading to the residents at Shady Lawn

      -           Book mobile service –over seventy stops – ranked 3rd in the State (circ ¼ million check-outs)

      -           Home-school children - heavy population of library

 

Introduction of Scott Wiggam – Commissioner for Wayne County -  incumbent for Commissioner              

-                      Just completing his first four year term – running for re-election as Commissioner

-                      Shared on the following:  The County wide “wellness” program – county healthcare program

-                      Unemployment for County as high as it ever has been – 6 ½% but still below state level

-                      Work with WEDC in proving for inventory and space for any business or businesses that may be

       Looking to Wayne County to locate.

-                      Talked about the annexation of 57 acres on the North side of Wooster – not only enlarges the city

       but gives zoning control

-                      Shared on the impact our agricultural community has on the County, State and Nationally

Motion for Chamber to endorse the levy for Wayne County Library by Dan Hostetler, 2nd by Maryland Boes,  Approved

Motion for Chamber to endorse Scott S. Wiggam for Commissioner by Kerry Pickets, 2nd by Dan Hostetler,   Approved
